Emily is a partner in the firm’s litigation practice. Since joining Brown Readdick in 2011, Emily has focused on governmental liability, public entity law, and employment law. She represents counties, municipalities, and other governmental entities throughout the state of Georgia in a wide variety of legal matters. Emily advises both public and private employers regarding risk mitigation, effective workplace policies, adherence to federal and state labor laws, and internal investigations. She represents employers through all stages of the administrative process and litigation related to wrongful termination, discrimination, and wage and hour disputes.
Emily is also highly experienced in appellate work. She has successfully argued multiple cases before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and has obtained favorable decisions from the Eleventh Circuit and the Georgia appellate courts in more than twenty-five cases. Emily is admitted to, and regularly practices before, all federal courts in the state of Georgia.
Prior to joining the firm, Emily attended the University of Georgia law school, where she received her Juris Doctor degree cum laude in 2011. During law school, Emily served on the managing board of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law as the Senior Articles Editor, and on the executive board of the Student Bar Association as the group’s webmaster. She obtained her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Florida, where she was recruited as a National Merit Scholar and graduated summa cum laude.
Emily has been selected by Super Lawyers as a Georgia Rising Star every year since 2019. She is a founding member and former executive officer of the Young Lawyers Division of the Glynn County Bar Association. Outside of work, Emily enjoys watching Georgia football, baking, and spending time outdoors with her husband and children.
