Eric L. Bumgartner

Eric Bumgartner is a partner with the firm. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Culture in 2004 from the University of Georgia, and earned his J.D. at Georgia State University College of Law in 2007.

Eric primarily practices in the areas of local government defense, civil rights litigation, constitutional law, insurance defense, and general litigation. He is admitted to practice in all Georgia state courts, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and in the Southern U.S. District Courts in Georgia. Eric is a member of the State Bar of Georgia.

While at Georgia State University College of Law, Eric worked with the Rockdale Circuit District Attorney’s office where he assisted in prosecutorial work.

Eric is married and has two children. Eric is active in the community, is an avid runner, and is a lifelong resident of Glynn County.

Representative Matters


Mr. Bumgartner has extensive trial experience in both state and federal court. He also has several reported appellate cases, in both federal and state appellate courts. Significant recent appellate decisions include the following representative cases:

Taylor v. McGraw, 327 Ga. App. 654, 760 S.E.2d 657 (2014), a Georgia Court of Appeals decision that reversed denial of defendant’s summary judgment motion where plaintiff’s minor child was found to have assumed the risk of injury while attending a bonfire at a friend’s home.

Brown v. GeorgiaCarry.org, Inc., 331 Ga. App. 890, 770 S.E.2d 56 (2015) a Georgia Court of Appeals decision that reversed denial of defendant’s summary judgment motion where law enforcement officers had reasonable suspicion to detain arrestee and request his identification.

Jenkins v. Keown, 351 Ga. App. 428, 830 S.E.2d 498 (2019) a Georgia Court of Appeals decision affirming summary judgment for defendant and UM carrier where plaintiff’s complaint was time barred because service was never properly performed.
